Montessori Curriculum

Prepared Environment
The prepared environment ensures children know what to expect every day. Each child knows exactly where to find (and store) their favorite activity. By providing a level of predictability and consistency within their environment, children can self-regulate and fully enjoy exploring materials during the work cycle.
Child-sized Materials and Furniture
Dr. Montessori maintained that children require an environment suited to their needs to regulate their emotions. Our center incorporates child-sized materials and furniture to give them a sense of control. This tailored environment enables children to explore materials independently, strengthening their motor skills and understanding of accomplishment.
Freedom of Exploration
As sensorial learners, children innately desire to explore their surroundings. Rather than overly directing a child like some centers, we encourage children to interact with materials at their own pace. We provide a wide range of stimulating activities that invite curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving.
Encouragement and Support
A positive learning environment is essential to fostering your child’s ability to trust themself to accomplish tasks independently. We are dedicated to creating a nurturing environment where children can find joy in knowing that their teachers are there to guide and support them.
Emphasis on Language
Language exposure is vital during the early years of life. We create opportunities to expand each child's growing vocabulary and understanding of linguistic concepts every day. From listening to stories and singing songs during circle time to classifying objects during individual language lessons, children build a strong foundation for communication skills at Little Independent.
